U.S. public vs. private sector incomes

Don Pepper • Lansing State Journal • April 16, 2008

This database contains public and private employee salary information for all U.S. counties.

The data was provided by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics and Gannett News Service research.

You can browse data for all counties or use the search form at right to narrow your search to a particular state or county.

At all levels, the data include average private sector pay for each county along with average salaries for federal, state and local government employees.

Clicking on a county name in the results list will open a new page with complete details for that county.

There are a number of U.S. counties located entirely within the boundaries of federal parks, forests, mountain ranges or protected wilderness or wildlife areas. As such, there are no private sector employees working there. Where federal, state or local government employees are present, their salaries are displayed. Counties with no public or private workers are not included in the results.

Displaying 1 through 3,140 of 3,140 records. Click on any column header to sort by that column; click again to reverse sort.
