Michigan State still had a chance to earn a share of the Big Ten Legends Division title entering today’s games.
Those title hopes ended with Michigan rallying to beat Northwestern in overtime this afternoon. MSU needed both Nebraska and Michigan to lose today to still have a chance.
Despite that, next week’s contest against Northwestern will be important for bowl positioning for the Spartans. The Wildcats are 7-3 (3-3 Big Ten) and already have a bowl bid locked up, but could earn a trip to the Gator Bowl over MSU with a victory next week. If MSU (5-5, 2-4) wins it takes care of being bowl eligible and likely earns the edge over Northwestern for the Gator Bowl.
If not the Gator Bowl, the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl could be a potential destination for either MSU or Northwestern.

NW totally blew their game against UM today. A poor punt (why not kick it away from the returner, not to him), then poor punt coverage, a horrible pass defense (foul him, its only a 15-yd penalty) and in general, total melt-down in the last 30 seconds.
Plus, both their QB and top running back are dinged up. Sounds like a perfect time to be playing the Wildcats. If we win out, this is essentially a play-off game for the Gator Bowl.
Rumor has it that we will wear the “Michigan” game helmets for this game since the home fans have not seen them yet. Unlike the bronze helmets from last year’s UM game, the players were not allowed to keep them, and the school still retains them for future games.
So glad USC beat the swine like a rented drum.
Now son that was uncalled for, remember our wager. Them thar hogs are 4-6 son. Beat Miss State and LSU and 6-6 is locked up. Then you admit MSU made a mistake 6 years ago. Hogs lose another game and you never hear from me again. As a side note at the Columbia airport and tried to get a hot dog. Did not have any money on me and asked for the hot dog on credit. Lady looked me right in the eye and said no money no hot dog, dad gum unfriendly town they got here
