Spartans in the NFL: Preseason Week 1


One is trying to make a team as an undrafted free agent, while the other is a lock to make the team as his team’s first-round selection in May’s NFL draft.

And both Houston Texans linebacker Max Bullough and Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Darqueze Dennard each turned in solid outings in the first preseason games of their careers.

Bullough made some plays in the Texans’ 32-0 setback, while Dennard made his mark while on the field for the Bengals in their loss.

Here’s a look how the two rookies and other former Michigan State players fared in the opening week of the NFL preseason.

Johnny Adams, Indianapolis – The cornerback had three tackles for the Colts in their 13-10 loss to the Jets

Edwin Baker, Cleveland – The running back had three carries for nine yards in the Browns’ 13-12 loss at Detroit.

Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh – The second-year running back had three carries for 18 yards and a reception for six yards in the Steelers’ 20-16 loss to the N.Y. Giants.

Max Bullough, Houston – The rookie linebacker had six tackles, including two for loss, in the Texans’ 32-0 loss to Arizona.

Kirk Cousins, Washington – The Redskins QB was 9 of 13 ┬ápassing for 103 yards and a TD in a 23-6 win over New England Patriots

Kellen Davis, N.Y. Giants – The tight end had a catch for nine yards in a 20-16 win over Pittsburgh.

Darqueze Dennard, Cincinnati – The rookie cornerback had four tackles and a sack in a 41-39 loss to Kansas City

Brandon Fields, Miami - The Dolphins punter landed two kicks inside the 20 and averaged 47.5 yards on six punts in a 16-10 loss to Atlanta

Bennie Fowler, Denver – The rookie receiver had a catch for 17 yards for the Broncos in a 21-16 win over Seattle

Will Gholston, Tampa Bay – The second-year defensive end had two tackles in a 16-10 loss to Jacksonville

Tyler Hoover, Indianapolis – The Colts defensive tackle had a tackle in a 13-10 loss to the N.Y. Jets

Brian Hoyer, Cleveland – The quarterback completed 6 of 14 passes for 92 yards in the Browns’ 13-12 loss to Detroit.

Keshawn Martin, Houston – The receiver had a catch for six yards and returned a kick for 24 yards in a 32-0 loss to Arizona.

Brandon McKinney, Indianapolis – The defensive tackle had one tackle in the 13-10 loss to the Jets

Domata Peko, Cincinnati – The veteran defensive lineman had a tackle in a 41-39 loss to the Chiefs

Trenton Robinson, Washington – The third-year defensive back had six tackles for the Redskins in their win

Drew Stanton, Arizona – The veteran quarterback completed 11 of 17 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown in a 32-0 win over Houston.

    what about jerel worthy. has he gotten fat and sassy? i hear the pack wants to trade him but he can’t pass a physical.
