Setting up today’s MSU basketball games

MSU begins its easiest two-game stretch for the remainder of the season when it faces Nebraska this evening at the Breslin Center (Big Ten Network, 6 p.m.).

The Cornhuskers, along with Wednesday’s opponent Penn State, are among the three teams in the Big Ten still searching for their first conference win (Iowa is the other). Nebraska is 9-7 under the direction of first-year coach Tim Miles and played a tight contest against No. 2 Michigan on Wednesday.

Nebraska will be without key component Brandon Ubel for today’s game.

The MSU women are also in action today and face Illinois in their Big Ten road opener at 4 p.m. today on the Big Ten Network. The matchups are here and there’s also a story on the Spartans clamping down on opposing top scorers.
