MSU’s win over Wisconsin on Thursday guaranteed it a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament. It also kept them in contention to earn a piece of the regular season conference title.
Other key matchups this weekend include Michigan hosting Indiana, Wisconsin facing Penn State and Ohio State taking on Illinois. A Michigan win over the Hoosiers creates a tie for the title. MSU and Ohio State are also in contention to earn a share with U-M and Indiana.
Here are the scenarios:
WITH A MSU WIN AND…
If Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. MSU, 4. Wisconsin, 5. Michigan
If Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. MSU, 3. Wisconsin, 4. Ohio St., 5. Michigan
If Indiana, Penn St. And Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St. 3. MSU, 4. Michigan, 5. Wisconsin
If Indiana, Penn St., Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. MSU, 3. Ohio St., 4. Michigan, 5. Wisconsin
If Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. Michigan, 4. MSU, 5. Wisconsin
If Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Michigan, 3. MSU, 4. Wisconsin or Ohio St.
(Both Wisconsin and Ohio State went .500 vs. top teams and split regular season meetings so seeding depends on rest of standings and record against those teams. Wisconsin was 2-2 vs. Indiana, Michigan and MSU and Ohio State went 3-3 against the trio)
If Michigan, Penn St., Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St. 3. Michigan, 4. MSU, 5. Wisconsin
If Michigan, Penn St., Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Michigan, 3. MSU, 4. Ohio St., 5. Wisconsin
WITH A MSU LOSS AND…
If Indiana, Penn St., Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. MSU, 4. Michigan, 5. Wisconsin
If Indiana, Penn St., Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. MSU, 4. Michigan, 5. Wisconsin
If Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. MSU, 3. Ohio St., 4. Wisconsin, 5. Michigan
If Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. MSU, 4. Wisconsin, 5. Michigan
If Michigan, Penn St., Illinois win
Seeds: 1.Indiana, 2. Michigan, 3. Ohio St., 4. MSU, 5. Wisconsin
If Michigan, Penn St., Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. Michigan, 4. MSU, 5. Wisconsin
If Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Michigan, 3. MSU, 4. Ohio St., 5. Wisconsin
If Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio St. win
Seeds: 1. Indiana, 2. Ohio St., 3. Michigan, 4. MSU, 5. Wisconsin

Thanks Brian, will refer to that later this weekend.
You’d think the 1st scenario has the greater likelihood of occurring, given the collective records so far this season, but any scenario that makes Paris play on Thursday is the one I want to see happen.
Roger that and I want Paris to lose on Thursday and look bad doing it sending them out West as a 5 seed where a 12 seed does them in like that MAC team last year.
agree 81, last year scUM was a 4 and OHIO was a 13, that was a game of beauty
yep I refuse to root for scUM, 2nd place is still nice considering all the “experts” had us finishing around 5th place.
Brian from your twitter:
#MSU eager for shot at redemption against #Michigan in tonight’s #B1G Tournament women’s hoops quarterfinal
Thought we were 2-0 agin ‘em?
No 1-1 during regular season. Like the men’s team the women lost by 1 in Ann Arbor. MSU is 2-0 against U-M all time in the Big Ten Tournament though.
Check that, Brian! Pretty sure we have never played Michigan in the Big Ten tournamnet!
Strike my last comment. I thought you were talking the Men’s tournament.
That’s where I heard the 2-0, thanks
Gonna link this over on Freep – their article(?) on this subject is awful. reads like it was written by one of my grammar school grandsons.
Maybe Couch wrote it Marine? He is going to be a big star someday and we can say we knew him when he first started out
Hey Marine, I don’t know how you can even stand reading the Freep, all scUM, all the time.
I am going to the B1g tournament on Friday night and I’m not sure if I want to see them play or have them win the big ten (2 and 3 play on fri night)?
