Merry Christmas to all

Brian and I are finally using up the remnants of our vacation, but I wanted to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and joyous New Year.

Derrick Nix earned Big Ten player of the week for his outstanding effort against Texas. MSU’s football team will be arriving in Tempe, Ariz., soon for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl and the Spartans’ date with TCU late, late Saturday night.

Me? I’m celebrating turning 38 today (Dec. 24). My only solace is that Rexrode turns 40 in a week. He’s still older than me.

Happy holiday everyone.

Merry Christmas to all. Would have liked to make the trip to the desert and see Trophy on his home turf but work commitments prevent it.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas celebrating with family and friends.
It was a white one here, so I’m a little nervous about my daughter driving all the way back to Omaha.

No go for me heading down to the desert, but I’ll be watching. Hope the Spartans have a good turnout from SpartanNation.

Congrats to Nixer, now he needs to stay aggressive when the chances are there, but not force it just because he had the game of his life.

Not sure Joe’s article is up on this site, but for those who want to read about our loss of Reggie Garnett our Gannentt Spartan Beat Writer has post on the Freep site:

Why is Cheese-It in AZ? His (and my 2nd school) Broncos are playing at the GLI tonight against the Spartans. How could he miss that just to work on his tan?

  14. avatar USMCSpartan(Ret.) says:

Here ya go folks, Grahm Cracker also know as Cheese-It has out done himself in his support of the Spartans with an article about the 3rd tier bowl MSU plays in on Saturday night. Can’t read it and wouldn’t. All I need to see is 3rd tier bowl in the headline and I know the bent of the article. If BWW is 3rd what does make the bowl WMU is playing in? Oh, that ‘s right, their qb who is better than Capt Kirk couldn’t get them a 6 win season, again. (as Sheldon would say, “is that sarcasm?)

I’m not going to link it.

    • avatar Spartan 81 says:

Gee I hope he doesnt review the Camelback Inn as a third tier hotel when he submits his expense account.

    • avatar LeeBee says:

Marine, I read it. While reading, I would get p_ssed, then take a breath and try to let him have his say. Now, I don’t want a rah, rah, everything is fabulouos writer (Joe isn’t) but this guy tries real hard to make a negative point. and stick in a barb I too, do not read his blog. From now on, I don’t read his articles either. This blog, and the articles about several of the men and women Spartans is the only reason I subscribe. If only there were another place.

    • avatar MSU Owns Denard says:

Tell me about it Marine, he makes sure to keep saying third tier bowl, what bowl game did WMU make? He’s a goof.

Best wishes for the new year. I really need to write a letter to the editor (or someone at the LSJ / Gannett that can make a difference ) Please provide an address. Regards, LeeBee

I just sent an email to the publisher & 2 editors. I’ll be cancelling my subscription on 12/31 & said I may renew when “Crumbs” is on someone else’s payroll. I put in a plug for Solari & Calloway, who I think do a fine job.

  17. avatar Spartan 81 says:

Sorry to hear Johnny Adams will miss the bowl game.

    • avatar MSU Owns Denard says:

yeah the kid had a down year but had a stellar career, it really is too bad, luckily TCU’s offense is slightly worse than ours.

  18. avatar BlazingSaddles says:

Here’s to hoping the posts pick up a bit after the new year…I understand folks need a vacation, but isn’t somebody covering the bowl game? Or last weekends big basketball game? Where are the fill-ins?

  19. avatar LeeBee says:

An I mistaken; or, does T Donnelly’s ex room mate host a spartan blog? To the point, where is that other blog many people flocked to?

    • avatar Spartan 81 says:

Yes Lebee Terry Donnellys ex roomate does host a Spartan Blog, send me your email address through Solari or Calloway and I will put you in touch with him to see if you would like to read his site. I will be home today and tomorrow but at the shootaround Sunday and at the basketball game on Monday

      Go Green

Here’s some fodder for the blog- WILL he stay or WILL he go?

Unfortunately, Baker’s motives may led to Gholston’s early departure … and may have contributed to lower TFL’s and sacks this season due to sleep deprivation? So much goes on behind the scenes we watch on Saturdays that it’s impossible to explain this season. Let’s hope for a great game and victory for MSU tomorrow!

Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Problem is you have people whispering in these kids ears that they would score 21 points a game at Western Michigan. Sad to see this happen.

      • avatar Spartan 81 says:

Lee Bee this does not bode well, apparantly GC is going to pick us to lose tomorrow night

I don’t expect a lot of points. It’ll be a sloppy game offensively, mostly because the two defenses will be so stifling. Dantonio will get Bell and the running game going just enough early to get a lead, and then we will hang on as the defense holds firm time and again. It’ll be an entertaining, gripping game for a full four quarters.

Friday Prediction: Michigan State 20 … TCU 16
