HALFTIME: Ohio State 7, MSU 3

The defense has made a couple big plays in this one to prevent the score from looking any worse for Michigan State at the half.

The Spartans have forced two turnovers with the Buckeyes driving to prevent any more scores besides Ohio State’s touchdown on its opening drive.

After the Buckeyes blocked a kick late in the second quarter to take over at the MSU 35-yard line, the Spartans forced a fumble two plays later. Marcus Rush forced the fumble and senior captain Chris Norman recovered.

Kurtis Drummond had an interception early in the second quarter to halt an Ohio State drive just outside the red zone.

MSU missed an opportunity to score late in the second quarter on another missed field goal by Dan Conroy. Conroy, who has missed one in every game this season, misfired from 42 yards after making a 34 yard field goal on MSU’s opening drive.

Andrew Maxwell was 13 of 26 passing for 129 yards in the first half. There were about three drops by receivers, depending on how you are scoring. Le’Veon Bell has a team-high six catches for 44 yards.

Braxton Miller has 12 carries for 65 yards and is 8 of 11 passing for 62 yards and an interception for the Buckeyes.

Also in the first half, Travis Jackson was carted off with what appears to be a knee injury.

Better receiving but still crucial drive stopping drops. Another miss by Conroy! The most important thing may be Jackson’s loss.
