The first game I covered this year in boys’ basketball was Williamston against Everett. The Vikings won, and I walked away thinking there wasn’t much to expect from the Hornets this season.
On Friday, I saw Williamston again, and what a change a few months can make. The Hornets stormed back to beat Portland, 51-46. Earlier this season, Portland beat Williamston, 44-41.
The win means that Williamston is right there in the CAAC White race. The difference has been a healthy Jimmy Kodet, who had 16 points in the win on Friday.
Williamston is peaking at the right time. Any other area teams you think are getting hot when it matters most? I’d also throw Lansing Eastern in there.
