Marcus Moore was not supposed to be 100 percent for Waverly’s game against Jackson Lumen Christi. The junior injured his groin in the team’s last game, and Waverly coach Craig Fields thought it would be best for his starter to begin the game on the bench.
But it didn’t take long for Moore to show everyone he was feeling good. He scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, as Waverly avenged an early season loss to Jackson Lumen Christi with a 59-54 win.
“I think he’s 100 percent,” Fields said. “It looked like it in the fourth quarter.”
It was in that quarter that Moore put his team ahead for good with a layup and had a crucial steal a minute later that he finished with a fast break layup.
“I came off the bench, and I had to do what I do to get the win,” Moore said.
