A couple ideas

The MHSAA unveiled its changes for the upcoming school year last month (and with things finally calming down, we’ll get to talking about those soon). Here are a few things I noticed this spring that might be worth exploring.

Record it

The MHSAA record book is in some disrepair, at least from a local standpoint. I see some spots that could use some updating, which is necessary to keep the book as accurate as possible.

They got games

Some mid-Michigan varsity basketball teams will play nearly 30 summer games by the end of THIS MONTH. Is it all too much?

Going the Distance

Mulling over the final decisions for our all-area track teams for this spring, I’m amazed at the amount of distance talent on the boys side.

Have a Bowl

Next time you’re at Royal Scot, check out the CAAC Bowling Hall of Records. I haven’t seen it yet myself, but it sounds like a cool little idea, along the lines of the area baseball plaques hanging at Olds Park.

Two sports Too many?

Lansing Catholic’s Sean Courtney is among those who successfully pulled off playing two sports this spring. But how many more will attempt the same?

He was the Boss

Jake Boss has retired from his second tenure as a mid-Michigan high school baseball coach. His work at Lansing Catholic only enhanced his stature among the area’s legendary long-timers on the diamond.

Williamston wins big

The Hornets may not have claimed a state soccer title Saturday. But they earned plenty of respect with a nearly history-making finish.

Can I get a ruling? (UPDATE)

The state golf tournament rule that gave Saturday’s Division 3 championship to Big Rapids instead of Lansing Catholic caught most of us off-guard.

All-Incredible

Picking our annual senior Athletes of the Year is never an easy choice. But the pool of possibilities on the boys side this year might be the best ever.
