BRESLIN CENTER — Michigan State’s players will be seeing Deshaun Thomas raining 3s over them for some time.
At least they’ll relive that uneasy thought with a win in hand.
Thomas scored 28, hit six 3-pointers and watched teammate Shannon Scott pass him up for a tying triple try in the final seconds, as the Spartans hung on, 59-56.
MSU won this game at the end because of the nerves of its point guard, Keith Appling, who buried two free throws with 7.9 seconds left and scored the Spartans’ final six points.
This isn’t the sort of win that gives a team a leg up in the Big Ten race. But it keeps MSU in it. An enormous win headling into a brutal week.
