Michigan opens as 5-point favorite over MSU

Home-court advantage means so much in college basketball. It’s the reason home wins receive so little attention or respect.

The early Las Vegas line on Michigan State’s rematch with Michigan Sunday is another example of this.

The Spartans won by 23 points in the first meeting, less than three weeks ago. They dominated several critical matchups and led by more than 30 at one point.

But that was at home.

The Spartans opened as five-point underdogs for tomorrow’s game in Ann Arbor. Same players. Same matchups. Both teams coming off losses.

Different venue.

5 points makes sense. I really think it’s all about a hot start for MSU. Part of the reason they blew UM out is that they got up on them early, and then just got in their heads. If they are able to plant that seed of doubt in them early in the game tomorrow, I think you could see more defensive breakdowns like we did in Happy Valley. But to me, it all comes down to hitting 3s for MSU. They only made 2 in Columbus. You just can’t win road games against good teams doing that. I imagine they’ll sag on Appling and Dawson which means Keith will have to hit some shots.

MSU has to pound it down low like they did the first time out, which helped open up wide open 3′s

As far as I’m concerned if Appling and Dawson show up we win the game if not we don’t SIMPLY AS THAT!.

I want the weasels to be favored over us, just more ammunition for us !

Appling was a beast last time out, he’ll have to step up again, and hopefully trice starts to find his shot.
