Ye of little faith. No one on this blog — me included — saw Michigan State’s offensive outburst coming.
The Spartans’ 55-17 win over Youngstown State somewhat resets expectations for this offense. To what, I’m curious.
Notre Dame is a flawed team. The last two weeks have shown this, especially the struggles at Purdue, which I believe to be the Big Ten’s worst team. But by comparison to MSU’s first three opponents, the Irish are the New England Patriots.
I don’t see the Spartans being able to run the ball in South Bend against this Notre Dame defensive front. And if they can’t, I’m not sure this passing game is ready to go it alone.
What makes this game intriguing is that I don’t know that. None of us really do. MSU’s offense offered a tease last week. Grabbed our attention. But was it real?
MSU doesn’t need an infinite number of points, but it needs more than 10. At least 20. Probably. And I don’t see 20 happening.
How do you see it?
As for our predictions contest, “Trophy” picked 34-0 last week, coming closest to the 38-point spread, though no one predicted close to 55 points. Or 40, even.
SpartyOn, Lancelot_Spartan and Trophy each have a win this season.
What do you have for this week? Analysis and predictions, please.
