MADISON, Wis. — Well. Hmm. Not sure what’s left to say about this Michigan State offense.
Just as the Spartans begin to look like a normal competent football offense, with third-down conversions and a couple decent drives, they go backwards 23 yards from the 11-yard line and punt.
Penalties, play-calling (too much Nick Hill), clock management … this is simply an ugly operation, the offense failing to score a first-half touchdown for the fifth time in nine games.
Still, it’s 7-3. This defense deserves medal.

As I twitted two games ago, Roushar calls a terrible game once again. Today, 4-5 successful slant pass plays, then back to run and overthrown deep passes. Why not stick to what works or were they listening to the ABC announcer that said they need to go vertical. Let’s see what they come up with after the halftime.

Amazing how many U of M fans troll here on an MSU blog. Well, dummy we pulled off the win. Let’s see if the Wolverines can do the same at Nebraska. I’m thinking not.
This could signal the turning point in the season that MSU fans have all been waiting for. As much as I am still skeptical of Roushar, I have to give him credit for mixing up the offense on the last drive in regulation as well as the winning play. Not to get to carried away, if Stave hadn’t sat out much of the 2nd half I really think they would have scored again, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
Anyways, I’ll take the win. On the road. Way to go, boys!
One series, with backs against the wall and on the road, Maxwell completes seven in a row for a TD… finally taking advantage of the center of the field. The Shovel Pass breaks bucky’s back once again. There is hope!

Congratulations, Spartans! Our defense played as tough today as I’ve seen in a long, long time. And, after wishing for a first down with less than five minutes in a game, the offense delivered several and pulled a rabbit out of their hats.
If I had DVR’d the game, I would replay the absolute relief I saw on Andrew Maxwell’s face after Fowler caught the game winner. It was almost as if he’d forgotten for a couple seconds that the game was actually over.
What a way to send off Wisconsin for four years of not being on our schedule unless they make the B1G championship game.
Should be available on ESPN3.com for a few days at least. I’m planning on watching the end of this one again a few times!
I think Dantonio out coached Bielema on that shovel pass, and Urban Meyer will keep Bucky out of Indy the next few years.
